Look out world, here I come!
So much to see, hear, touch and feel.
From the moment they’re born, our children are learning about the world around them and the people that surround them. At Paint Pots Nursery we watch and listen your child at play. We see what really excites them and we draw them into exploring further. It’s not formal teaching. There’s plenty of time for that.
Instead we build on your child’s innate curiosity, and help them to understand the joy of always wanting to know more.
Playing with bubbles. Solving a puzzle. Creating art. Simply laughing with friends. Children have a wonderful ability to learn in everything they do.
Learning to learn is one of the most important skills we can give our children.
Why early childhood education is important?
At Paint Pots Nursery we do that by letting our children lead the way. They play. We watch and listen. We gently guide your child into exploring the activities and ideas that capture their imagination. We give your child the time and space to discover how the world works. And how they react to that world and the people in it.
We aim to help your child towards independent thinking and an emotional intelligence that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives.
Our practitioners build on their own expertise, together with pre-birth to three guidance for younger children and the Curriculum for Excellence for the over-threes.
BABY ROOM: 0-2 YEARS
- Understanding the world using sensory baskets and heuristic play
- Touching and feeling, from foam and bubbles through playdough to rice and lentils
- Discovering creativity through singing, arts and crafts
- Exercises, dancing and walks to the pond
- Quieter time with stories
TODDLERS: 2-3 YEARS
At the age of two your child makes a gentle transition into the next room. Here we introduce exciting new activities to help them grow.
We’ll encourage greater independence in play. We’ll use planned group times to identify what excites your child’s curiosity, and give them the tools to explore further.
We don’t stop the activities that they already enjoy. But now it’s time to add in even more:
- Visits to the local library bus to discover the joy of books
- Small world play to encourage young imaginations
- Makaton signing to enrich conversations through gestures, expressions and pictures
- Loose parts play that supports problem solving and invention
PRESCHOOLERS: 3-5 YEARS
Children grow so fast. By the age of three big school is on the horizon.
In our three-to-fives room we help your child to even more thinking and social skills to give them the best start in formal education.
We add into our days a wide range of activities to stretch children’s minds and their ability to work by themselves and in groups:
- Block play to develop construction skills
- Working together in circle time to share art, music, stories and games
- Music and movement
- Manipulating, exploring and experimenting in the process of creating transient art
Children Learn Social Skills At Paint Pots
Learning isn’t just about understanding things. It’s also about a child knowing themselves and how to work and play with peers.
We give your child the opportunity to explore their emotions through activities such as circle time, when they can talk about their feelings, friendship and relationships.
We encourage sharing of thoughts and challenges, from building blocks and solving problems to setting the table together for snacks.
By following the Early Years Foundation Stage and Curriculum for Excellence, we’re ensuring your child receives a truly high-quality education and will be ready for more structured learning.
We are dedicated to giving children the best start in life. That includes giving children strong life skills and involving parents in their learning.
Taught through games and play, the areas of learning include:
- Communication and language
- Physical Education
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design
Our aim is to help your child grow in life-long confidence, resilience and happiness.
We provide an inspiring environment that helps them become engaged and absorbed in everything they do. We help them build an understanding of themselves and their peers.
We actively encourage enquiry and discovery in their play to help them in their future learning – and retain that glorious sense of wonder for as long as they can.
